The INTHERWASTE project Interregional Environmental Integration of Waste Management in European Heritage Cities –, aims to foster the exchange of experience and polices for efficient and sustainable waste management in European Heritage Cities.

Project funded under the European Regional Development Fund.


The 3rd Thematic Seminar of the INTHERWASTE project took place on 15-16 November 2017 in Ibiza, Spain. It focused on integration of waste management solutions into the urban décor of heritage areas. Some of the best practices that were presented are described in detail here.

The next and final thematic Seminar will take place on 13-14 June 2018 in Cordoba, Spain, to discuss good practices on Waste minimization in heritage areas, such as the organisation of awareness raising campaigns in schools or the implementation of composting bins in the city.

The 5 pilot cities have now started the further stage in their cooperation – the bilateral meetings.The first one took place on 18 April 2018 in Ghent, Belgium, between ACR+ member SADECO and IVAGO, the intercommunal waste management company providing waste collection and treatment in the city of Ghent.
