RE4 logoThe RE4 project – REuse and REcycling of Construction and Deconstruction Waste (CDW), materials and structures in energy efficient pREfabricated elements for building REfurbishment and construction – is an European project aiming at the development of a fully prefabricated energy-efficient building bade of components containing up to 65% by weight of CDW-derived materials and structures.

The project is currently co-financed by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme.

The project's second newsletter, published in April 2018, provides an overview of the project's progress. Notably, it presents the mapping and analysis of construction and demolition waste (CDW) reuse and recycling in Europe. A first achievement was an in-depth study of the CDW management situation in the participating countries, together with several reccomendations in order to unlock secondary raw materials currently unexploited or underexploited within the EU. Read more about it here.

The latest RE4 General Assembly took place from 20 to 21 September 2017 in Berlin, Germany, and was hosted by one of the project partners, Roswag Architekten. The consortium shared the overall progress of the project over the past six months and discussed a detailed plan for the next 6-month period. Part of the meeting was also an Exploitation Workshop, which presented a clear vision of the objectives of the project and a well-planned strategy for the protection and exploitation of results.
