Circular Economy Competences Making the Case for Lifelong Learning

From 19 February 2019 09:00 until 19 February 2019 11:00

CYCLE conference bold

Mainstreaming circular economy in lifelong learning has a strong potential to boost professional competences that match the needs of a growing circular economy job market. Circular economy learning can be introduced at different levels in the education system, from schools to vocational education and training. But how does this work in practice and what kind of policies can support learning processes?

The event “Circular Economy Competences Making the Case for Lifelong Learning”, took place on 19 February 2019 at the European Parliament in Brussels, from 9:00 to 11:00. The event, co-hosted by MEPs Silvia Costa and Simona Bonafè, aimed to bring together existing practices and key actors of circular economy in education and training, fostering a Europe-wide cooperation based on knowledge sharing and exchange of good practices.

The agenda featured experts and practitioners from local and regional authorities, training providers, NGOs and academia across Europe who exchanged their views and share their experiences in three thematic panels: Circular thinking/economy in education; Upskilling waste, repair & reuse industry; Circular Economy job market, core and enabling skills.

The event took place in the framework of the Erasmus + CYCLE project, co-funded by the European Commission.
