ACR+ will co-chair a forum of the thematic coalition on circular economy during the second Climate Chance World Summit which will take place from 11 to 13 September 2017 in Agadir (Morocco). This forum will among others present some practical cases on circular economy from various countries and address the continuation of the European Week for Waste Reduction and its extension to other territories like in the Mediterranean area.

Within the framework of the World Summit Climate and Territories in July 2015, international thematic coalitions were formed to encourage non-state actors (including local authorities, businesses, and civil society organisations) to make climate commitments and facilitate the implementation of the Paris Agreement. In cooperation with ACR+ member Orée and CEMR, ACR+ is co-piloting a coalition on circular economy, proposing actions related to awareness raising, exchanges of best practices and capacity building, policy recommendations, as well as methodology and evaluation.

The aim of the second Climate Chance World Summit is to assess the progress done in the various thematic coalitions. Thousands of participants from around fifty countries are expected to participate in the summit and its 80 workshops, focus events, high level dialogues and thematic plenaries, with a strong representation from the most important African climate initiatives. ACR+ invites all its members and contacts to join this COP22-labelled event.
