The Metropolis of Greater Paris and ACR+ member the City of Paris co-organised the conference "The Circular Greater Paris" on 5 October 2017 at the Palais des Congrès in Issy-les-Moulineaux.

Faced with climate change and the inexorable depletion of natural resources, the current economic model based on "extracting, producing, consuming, throwing" must evolve towards a new paradigm. The circular economy is placed as a credible alternative in which the linear economy is replaced by the model of virtuous cycles and creative wealth.  In a circular economy model, the maxim of Antoine Lavoisier "Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed" is implemented to its fullest.

“The Circular Greater Paris” conference was intended as an event in which the circular economy is seen not merely as a topical subject but as a necessity for present and future generations. The Metropolis of Greater Paris and the City of Paris aimed to highlight the actors of the metropolitan area as well as the international stakeholders who have already changed their traditional practices to integrate the circular economy principles into their activities. As such, the event will showcase good practices of the circular economy implementation as well as highlight the need to transition from the linear economy to the circular economic model.
