ACR+ has joined more than 80 leaders from international networks, NGOs, and national organisations spanning 18 European countries to address the pressing issue of textile waste by publishing an open letter to EU policy makers. Led by RREUSE, the letter emphasises the need for policymakers to tap into the potential of the social economy during the ongoing revision of the Waste Framework Directive, aiming to foster a just green transition. The co-signatories collectively advocate for upholding positive provisions for social enterprises in the collection and management of used textiles, granting decision-making power to these entities in Extended Producer Responsibility schemes, ensuring EPR fees cover all reuse costs, and preserving social enterprises' ownership over collected textiles.
