The 6th ReUse Conference entitled “Reusable Packaging in Europe: Boosting Business and Closing the Loop” was held on 23 March 2017 in Brussels, in partnership with ACR+ member Reloop. The main focus was on refillables as well as on reuse transport packaging and their potential for waste prevention.

During the event most of the participants agreed, that for reuse and recycling a joint target quota as included in the current CEP-draft of the European Commission has to be avoided. A joint quota would lead to less recycling, as already existing reuse systems would be counted within the quota. Moreover, there would hardly be any incentives for intensifying reuse.

The contribution made through this conference can be considered successful as reuse systems are more and more supported, as observed by the latest legislative negotiations. Contributions made during the conference can be consulted in the Conference Book.
