On 3 April 2019, ACR+ member Wasteserv hosted the fifth edition of the Malta Waste Reduction Awards. The initiative, which is part of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), saw the organisation of 134 actions meant to tackle overconsumption and waste between 17 and 25 November 2018.

During his opening speech at the event, Mr. David Borg, Wasteserv’s Chairman, pointed out that the actions carried out were innovative and that they were necessary in raising awareness about hazardous waste, the 2018 theme of the EWWR.

The initiatives were assessed based on the following criteria: innovation and creativity, methods of communications used, the number of people reached and the long-term impact of the action. The five winners all received grants in recognition of their efforts.
