ACR+ member NLWA and Camden Fixing Factory are addressing the increasing e-waste issue in the UK by facilitating the recycling and reuse of electricals in north London. With support from NLWA funding, Fixing Factory is conducting the "Five Weeks of Fixing" program, aiming to promote community repair of portable electrical appliances and shift attitudes toward a more sustainable approach.

The initiative involves three groups of residents with different repair skills, training them to safely test, diagnose and repair electrical items for donation to local beneficiaries. The first group participated in five half-day repair sessions over five weeks, addressing a variety of items such as drills, lamps, heaters and toasters. Many items were found to require only thorough cleaning to restore them to working order.
