Belfast city council 80px
ACR+ member Belfast City Council is appealing to residents to donate their pre-loved toys in the run-up to Christmas to support local families in need and reduce the amount of quality toys sent to landfill. Residents can drop off unwanted but still good-condition toys at any of the city's four recycling centers until 11 December. The council has partnered with church East Belfast Mission for the project, which successfully distributed around 2 500 bags of toys to 700 families in the city the previous year. The initiative, first introduced in 2022, helped divert approximately 7.5 tonnes of items from ending up in landfills. The donation scheme accepts a variety of items, including bikes, scooters, dolls, prams, jigsaws, board games, books, and DVDs, placed in containers provided at recycling centers.
