ACR+ member Brussels Environment has launched a new programme to improve waste management in Brussels schools "Operation Recycle". This initiative targets all schools in the Brussels-Capital Region with a triple objective: prevent waste by reducing disposable packaging and food waste; improve sorting by promoting recycling and, if possible, composting; and maintain the school and its surroundings clean and contribute to the overall improvement of the living environment for everyone. Students, teachers, administrators, cleaning and cafeteria staff, and parents are encouraged to participate.

"Operation Recycle" is primarily a call for applications to reduce waste in schools by 75% within 3 years. Approximately 80 selected schools will receive personalised support until June 2027, including training, audits, as well as material and financial support. The application period will run from 8 January to 29 February 2024.
