Since its launch in March 2021, the Recycling Improvement Fund has been awarded over GBP 60 million. The funding, launched by the Scottish Government and managed by ACR+ member Zero Waste Scotland, has supported 30 projects across 21 council areas, bringing new infrastructure and services to various communities. The approved projects are anticipated to result in an annual increase of approximately 50 000 tonnes of recycled material.

Several ongoing projects include South Ayrshire Council's successful implementation of recycle-on-the-go bins in community parks, leading to the recycling of one third of all litter dropped. Glasgow City Council has received the largest award, over GBP 21 million (EUR 24.5 million), for a new Materials Recovery Facility and a twin-stream kerbside service scheduled to open in 2026. Aberdeen City Council's updated reuse service has garnered positive feedback, selling over 16 000 reuse items since its launch.
