Madrid

ACR+ member El Ayuntamiento de Madrid, is rolling out a strategic plan in order to offer a separate organic waste collection service. This would involve citizens separating their food waste into a new 5th brown container, in order for them to be recycled. The plan is coming into force in response to the EU 2020 Directives which call for a 20% reduction in waste. The plan will be implemented in stages, beginning with hotels and restaurants in a years’ time and gradually moving towards homes in 3-4 districts and finally across the capital by 2020.
