The Bucharest National Arena will start soon a pilot project to promote differentiated collection and on-site sorting, compacting and delivery of plastic and paper fractions to recycling companies. This is one of the information gathered by ACR+ during a field visit to the National Arena in Bucharest, realised as part of the LIFE TACKLE project with the support of the Romanian Football Federation. Together with researchers from the Institute of Management of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, ACR+ had the opportunity to observe the performance and environmental management procedures before, during and after the eternal derby in Bucharest. Thanks to the availability of the Municipality of Bucharest, ACR+ interviewed the stadium manager and those responsible for environmental management. The results of the field visit will be incorporated into the Environmental Management Guidelines to be tested in some of the stadiums that will host matches of the forthcoming European Football Championship.

The LIFE TACKLE project is co-funded by the LIFE programme of the European Commission. The project partnership is made by: Scuola Superiore Sant’Annan, the Italian, Romanian and Swedish National Football Associations, Euractiv, as well as ACR+ and two its members, LIPOR and AMIU.
