On 4 – 6 December 2018, ACR+ delivered a mission in Israel in the framework of the SWIM-H2020 SM Project. The activities concerned two priority sectors for the EU Circular Economy Agenda as well as for the Ministry of Environment and Protection in Israel (MoEP).

Warmly welcomed by the MoEP in Jerusalem, the ACR+ team received the support of an invited expert from ACR+ member the Catalan Waste Agency, to lead workshops and training activities, analysing key challenges and potential solutions in Israel.

On the first day, the topic of construction and demolition waste management (CDW) was in the focus, with presentations on Catalan experiences and the European trend. Two visits of CDW recycling plants and a meeting with a group of stakeholders followed the presentations. It was a great opportunity to increase the comprehension of the local context, implementing an inclusive way to develop the MoEP work.

The two following days were dedicated to a workshop on plastic, led by ACR+ and including lively and interactive activities with the MoEP team currently involved in the national plastics strategy development. Thanks to the workshop, inspiring links were created with regional topics such as marine litter in the Mediterranean area, sharing mutual challenges and goals to tackle the issue.
