Between the 19st and the 27th of November, the 2016 edition of the European Week for Waste Reduction takes place. The EWWR 2016 will take place under the patronage of the European Parliament and focuses on Packaging Waste Reduction with the slogan “Use Less Packaging”
The EWWR 2016 will be implemented all over Europe (and beyond!) with the aim of promoting the implementation of awareness-raising actions about sustainable resource and waste management during a single week. The EWWR, in fact, represents an occasion to engage with and spread awareness on the hot topics of the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!, as well as on Packaging Waste Reduction.
Packaging waste, a major issue in our current consumption lifestyle, especially when this waste is due to the useless ‘over packaging’ of products, has been adopted as the main theme for the 2016 edition of the EWWR.
Each of us produces on average 156.92 kg of packaging waste per year, much of which is avoidable. This quantity needs to be reduced!
