NEWAPP Final Conference
NEWAPP project final conference
Hydrothermal carbonization of wet biomass residues
This final conference presented the NEWAPP project and its outcomes to a broad audience.
The NEWAPP project is a research project that is co-founded by the European Commission under the FP7 program. The project aims at developing a new valorization pathway for biomass waste streams through Hydro Thermal Carbonization (HTC) technology.
The HTC process converts Biomass waste streams into carbon. Instead of releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, the carbon biomass is transformed into a peat-like material, which can be used to develop new products of industrial interest such as fuel, activated carbons for water treatment, soil remediation, carbon sequestration schemes and other applications.
