ACR+ is pleased to announce that the new publication “School Composting - A Manual” has been released and is now available. The initial version of the school composting manual was funded in the framework of the EU-Twinning Project RO/2004/IB/EN06 – Implementation and enforcement of the environmental acquis focused on household waste management - REPA Bacau.

The manual has been developed by Vlaco npo (the former Flemish Compost Organisation) and reviewed by the Flanders Public Waste Agency (OVAM). The publication has made possible thanks to the valuable contribution of ACR+.

Given that bio-waste is the most important fraction of municipal solid waste (MSW) and that waste from schools contains a high amount of organic material, “School Composting - A Manual” can help Educational Institutions by providing a model for the implementation of school composting programs; as a consequence this could reduce schools waste stream and increase their recycling rate while, at the same time, also allowing pupils and students to understand the importance of responsible waste disposal and the advantages of composting.

“School Composting - A Manual” is available for download here.
