ACR+ is a partner of a new project launched on 1st October 2015, the European project LIFE FUTURE, which is coordinated by AIMPLAS and counts also on the collaboration of UJI, AIJU, the Valencia City Council throughout its Foundation InnDEA, and Koprivnika City Council.

The project "Sustainable Urban FUrniTURE: Tool design to perform environmental assessments in the green procurement framework" (FUTURE) is a 30-month project supported by the LIFE programme of the European Commission. It aims at developing a tool, the so-called GUF (Green Urban Furniture) tool, to perform an accurate and simplified environmental analysis of urban furniture, in order to facilitate green public procurement.

This tool is aimed at the staff responsible for public purchasing of urban furniture and it will guide them during the tender process, from the generation of environmental requirements to be included in their demands to the comparative environmental assessment of the different products offered by suppliers, in order to achieve a "green" public procurement. It will be validated, during the project, by the local authorities of the cities of Valencia (Spain) and Koprivnika (Croatia) by acquiring around 200 urban furniture products.

It is expected that during the five years after the end of the project an overall acquisition of 17,500 products is carried out. Using the results of this validation, a "green guide" will be prepared, which will be incorporated to the urban furniture acquisition processes of the city councils. The tool will be accessible both to the public administrations purchasing this kind of products and to the suppliers.

ACR+ is involved in the LIFE FUTURE project as a dissemination and technical expert. The network will contribute to the technical validation of the GUF tool and promote its implementation. Additionally, ACR+ will disseminate the results of the project while connecting different stakeholders. The developments and outcomes of the project will be regularly shared with ACR+ members.
