First meeting of the Coordination Group of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform

ACR+ was one of the 24 members of the Coordination Group of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform that met on 22 November 2017 in order to start working on ways to make this platform an efficient one-stop shop for anyone wanting to foster the transition to a circular economy. Co-chaired by the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee, the Coordination Group discussed views on the group’s main roles: monitoring the exchange of solutions, widening the Platform’s, monitoring communication and website, steering and assessing the progress of the Platform, identifying bottlenecks and drivers, fostering a common language. The Platform’s website was presented and a call to fill it in was launched. ACR+ already published some information on it and ACR+ members are encouraged to submit their good practices.

An important moment for discussion also focused on how to encourage the exchange of good practices, to foster policy dialogue and to provide knowledge about the circular economy among stakeholders. Participants were encouraged to share those activities already carried out by their organisations in this respect, to stress those that could be leveraged by the Platform and to identify actions and tools that could be developed to promote the Platform’s effectiveness. ACR+ proposed to contribute to the exchange of practices and knowledge, in particular via the work done in the Circular Europe Network and its EU-funded projects.

The next important milestone will be the annual Circular Economy Stakeholder Conference, taking place in Brussels on 20-21 February 2018.
