On 22 June 2017, the V Meeting Point organised by ACR+ member Fundación para la Economía Circular took place. During this event, entitled “Management of material resource, products and waste: objectives 2030”, more than 20 European experts debated on the current hot topics regarding circular economy and its implementation in Spain and Portugal. Amongst some of the conclusions of the event, it has been noted that economic incentives and the implementation of good strategies at local level are needed. The event was concluded by a session on littering during which participants agreed that prevention is a priority in the fight against littering.

The main conclusions from the Meeting Point are available online (in Spanish).

A week after, on 29 June 2017, the Fundación para la Economía Circular hold an award ceremony for its first contest of stories on the importance of moving towards a circular economy, rewarding the best narratives on this subject. Over 100 participants from Spain and Latin-America submitted a novel which had to promote circular economy and one or more of its principles: an efficient use of resources, ecodesign, repair and reuse and so on. The jury was composed of important names from environmental associations, journals and academic institutions. The first prize (3,000€) was given to Carlos Gómez Díez for its novel “Ciudad de vacaciones” (Holidays town), published under the pseudonym Señor Esteban. All the novels submitted can be read online (in Spanish).
