EWIT project | The project enters promotion stage

From October 2016 the E-waste Implementation Toolkit (EWIT project) is organising a series of local conferences in Africa to disseminate the project’s main result: a web-based toolkit.

This online toolkit includes solutions to common problems regarding e-waste. These solutions have been developed by the project team after analysing e-waste data collected in targeted areas through a twinning of 4 European and 4 African cities. The toolkit is a dynamic and easy-to-use information and service portal where policy makers will find guidance and practical support for the design and development of smart e-waste collection and recycling systems.

The EWIT project is a 2-year project funded under Horizon 2020. The project is conceived as Europe-Africa cooperation initiative aimed to implement a toolkit bringing together best practices and successful case-studies in the field of e-waste management for Africa and Europe. ACR+ member LIPOR is a partner of the project and ACR+ has itself been involved as an external stakeholder, providing valuable input to support the project partners.

The end of the project is planned for January 2017 with a final pan-African conference at the African Parliament premises, where opportunities of follow-ups and further cooperation will be explored.
