ACR+ membert the Walloon Region recently launched "Communes Zéro Déchet" (Zero Waste Municipality) an initiative aiming to reduce the amount of its household waste produced in the region.

The Walloon Region households annually throw away approximately 500 kg of waste. The ambition of Zero Waste Municipality is to reduce this proportion at least to 100 kg in a few years' time. The objective of this call is to share the best practices from the municipalities that already attained the goal and further improve the waste management.

The Walloon Region will select 10 municipalities and the initiative will be implemented starting from the spring 2017 with a help of a consultant from ACR+ member. The selected municipalities will also benefit from a range of networking activities and custom made waste management solutions. The deadline for the call for applications is 3 April 2017.
