Contarina | One of the recipients of the Italian champions of circular economy award

On 24 April 2017, Legambiente organised a meeting entitled “Circular Economy - Made in Italy” in the premises of the European Parliament in Brussels. During the event, Legambiente presented the Green Train 2017 Initiative, which awarded 107 Italian "champions" of circular economy who implement sustainable waste management based on recycling, home-based collections, pay as you throw schemes, reuse, prevention and industrial innovation. One of the awardees was ACR+ member Contarina which is considered as one of the leaders in Europe in recycling and are an example of cutting-edge public entities in terms of services and results, working with the community to achieve a common goal: protection of the environment.

In addition, on 27 May 2017, Contarina will be opened to the public for the Open Day 2017. The initiative will be realised in the framework of the European Green Week 2017 – Green Jobs for a greener future. Contarina premises in Lovadina di Spresiano (Treviso, Italy) will host students and general public for guided visits of the waste recovery and recycling centre, on 27 May (from 2:00 to 6:00 pm) and 28 May 2017 (from 9:00 to 12:00 am and from 14:00 to 18:00 pm).

Visitors will be able to look closely at the entire recycling process, and at the end of the visit they’ll receive a bag of soil obtained from the process of composting.
