UrbanWaste

The URBAN-WASTE project’s website has launched its brainstorming platform, a new feature which will enable project partners, external partners, organisation and even individuals to propose solutions and measures for making tourism more sustainable.

The brainstorming platform allows visitors of the website to contribute to the project’s objective – eco-innovative solutions for waste reduction and waste management improvements in touristic areas. The platform welcomes any interested party in proposing relevant solutions for improving waste management practices across Europe, such as preventing food waste, improving the collection of recyclables, avoiding littering or encouraging reuse, etc.

The brainstorming platform will help the development of waste prevention and management strategies for the tourist cities of the URBAN-WASTE project. These strategies will specifically address certain type of tourism (coastal, cultural …) and different status quo in terms of existing waste policies. Each strategy will be composed by several waste prevention and management measures with specific achievable objectives and targets. The strategies will include many different instruments and measures, which can be grouped in 4 main categories – regulatory, economic, technological and informational.

The brainstorming platform is already welcoming ideas and proposals, both existing and new ones and they can range from very well detailed and documented good practices to a very short description of a practice one can personally experience as a tourist.
