Making producers fully responsible for all WEEE management costs
ACR+ has decided, given the forecasted procedures to be made on the WEEE-recast for a political agreement by the council on 14 October 2010 and EP plenary sitting on 19 October 2010 (indicative dates), to put pressure on decision makers by sending both a letter and press release to all national WEEE-experts in order to reiterate our point of view on the issue of financial responsibility.
Making producers fully responsible for all WEEE management costs
The recent contributions by ACR+ to the WEEE-recast process including a press release in March 2010 and contacts with major stakeholders have, among other organisations, influenced the latest developments in the WEEE-recast and we are happy to mention that such advancements as separate re-use targets (5%) and eco-design (prevention) requirements have now been included.
That said, the issue of making producers fully responsible for all WEEE management costs from the moment EEE becomes WEEE - so that the tax payer is no longer co-financing the producer’s responsibility - has not yet been taken into consideration.
Therefore ACR+ has decided, given the forecasted procedures to be made on the WEEE-recast for a political agreement by the council on 14 October 2010 and EP plenary sitting on 19 October 2010 (indicative dates), to put pressure on decision makers by sending both a letter and press release to all national WEEE-experts in order to reiterate our point of view on the issue of financial responsibility.
