NILSA | The Government of Navarre approves the draft of the Regional Waste Law and its Taxation

The Government of Navarre has adopted an agreement approving the draft Waste Law and its Taxation, whose main objectives are to prevent waste generation, improve waste management, and move further in the circular economy and in the fight against climate change. In this way, it seeks to achieve the objectives set out in the European regulations and in the Waste Plan for Navarra 2017-2027, recently approved.

Amongst other measures, a full chapter of this draft document is dedicated to waste prevention and includes the following measures: support to circular economy, green public purchasing, selective collection of organic waste from household and commercial waste and preparation for reuse and recycling. In addition, it will regulate the use of plastic bags and the sale of single-use tableware, establish measures to prevent packaging develop guidelines on other management systems and organise public events and campaigns to raise awareness, provide support and information.

Following this agreement, the text will be sent to the Parliament of Navarre for further discussion and, where appropriate, approval.
