The European Commission is in the process of preparing guidelines to assist and facilitate Member States in the separate collection of hazardous waste fractions produced by households as required by the Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC (WFD). These guidelines will take into account the results of a newly-published study to which ACR+ contributed.

The guidance document developed focuses on separate collection of municipal waste reviewing the EU obligations and identifying good practices for implementation. Several ACR+ are featured for their successful separate waste collection systems such as Paris, Odense, Brussels, Luxembourg, Flanders.
