The annual EWWR Awards Ceremony took place on 1 June online and revealed the names of the most outstanding awareness-raising actions on waste reduction implemented in November 2020. The ceremony was held as a pre-conference event of the European Green Week 2021 that has chosen as focus “Zero pollution”, one of the key aspects of the European Green Deal. Six winners were awarded, one in each category. For the first time, the EWWR Secretariat awarded an additional action voted by the participants of the Ceremony. Discover the winners and the runners-up in the press file or watch the video recording of the event.

We are now looking forward to the next EWWR edition from 20 to 28 November 2021, which will focus on circular communities. These difficult times have highlighted the role that small communities can play in the transition towards sustainable consumption and production patterns. All organisations (non-governmental organisations, grassroots movements, businesses, educational establishments, public authorities), as well as individual citizens that provide waste prevention, takeback, reuse, recycling and composting services should be involved in order to achieve zero waste targets. We warmly invite you to join the EWWR in your region and become an action developer yourself. Who knows, you may become the next EWWR winner!
