In April 2022, the Circular Cities and Region Initiative (CCRI) launched a call for expression of interest for European cities, regions and territorial clusters to become CCRI Pilots and Fellows. These stakeholders will work closely with the CCRI Coordination and Support Office (CCRI-CSO), in which ACR+ is part of the consortium, and each other to lead Europe’s circular economy transition.

After over 100 applications, CCRI has selected a total of 12 CCRI Pilots, including ACR+ members Flanders and Guimarães, who will showcase the circular potential of their front-running ecosystems.   In addition, 25 Fellows, including ACR+ members Metropolitan Region of AmsterdamSofia MunicipalitySouthern Region Waste Planning Authority and Zero Waste Scotland, will improve their circular economy starting positions by learning from the CCRI network and twinning with front-runners, peers and knowledge providers.  The experiences and learning processes of both Pilots and Fellows will also feed into the CCRI’s knowledge base.
