Within the activities of the Prepsoil project, ACR+ Maltese member Southern Region Council, in collaboration with the Northern Region Council is currently engaging local actors in the identification of drivers, pressures, and impact that Maltese soils are exposed to. The current activities are also focusing on the identification of the (needed) responses that actors need to provide and design to keep soils healthy and fertile. The study is aiming to identify the pressure factors arising from the expansion of the tourism industry on the limited amount of land on the island, and hence to identify the Soil Needs to ensure a healthy soil status in line with the Soil Mission objectives set by the European Commission for 2030.
