Government of Navarra | 226 municipalities lead local action against climate change

According to the Government of Navarra, 82% of the municipalities in the region are now involved in some form of local action against climate change. This was the main conclusion of the III Day of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy held in Navarra, attended by representatives from all 226 municipalities that have voluntarily joined this global initiative to implement local mitigation and adaptation plans. This represents 16 more municipalities than last year and twelve times the 18 that started this path six years ago. 

The event featured four roundtable discussions highlighting successful cases and specific initiatives undertaken by various Navarra municipalities in local climate action. Projects addressed sustainable urban mobility, energy communities, water management, circular economy and waste management, as well as environmental education in schools.
