LIFE4EPR Consortium meets in Barcelona

LIFE4EPR project gathered in Barcelona in the last week of October, to discuss the progress achieved and plan ahead. The consortium brings together EPR practitioners, local and regional authorities, experts to achieve a better understanding of EPR schemes in the EU and to move towards harmonisation at the EU level. The mission is ambitious and there are many challenges on the way. Partners are trying to answer difficult questions: what makes an EPR scheme successful? What if we created an EU-wide register to make things easier? However, the consortium partners are motivated to face these questions together while bringing their own perspective to this very important project. Among the tasks ACR+ is leading are an extensive mapping of existing EPR schemes in the EU, benchmarking selected ones. We are also supporting the building of a community of experts, finding synergies with our own EPR club, as well as contributing to policy recommendations for better design and implementation of EPR systems.
