ACR+ member Maastricht has joined the “Statiegeldalliantie” campaign in January 2018. The “Statiegeldalliantie” was launched in November 2017 with 21 organisations. The aim of it is to convince Dutch and Belgian governments to widen the use of deposit systems, which would contribute to waste reduction, diminish rubbish collection costs and harm to animals caused by leaked waste into the environment. The organisation has already united a total of 101 stakeholders varying from local authorities to waste management companies and environmental organisations.

House of Representatives of the Netherlands will debate widening the current deposit scheme in March 2018.
