ACR+ member Brussels Environment has introduced a new label for the city’s restaurants. The "Good Food Resto" awarded to 34 restaurants aims to promote their approach to more sustainable food. Valid for a period of 3 years and decorated with 1, 2 or 3 “toques” (chef’s hats), this new label aims to support and guide restaurants in meeting a series of "Good Food" criteria.

Any type of restaurant committed to sustainable food can integrate the labelling process. As part of the process, restaurants will receive free support services to identify strengths and establish prospects for improvement in accordance with the following principles of sustainable food:

  • Supply fresh, local and seasonal food produced in an environmentally-friendly way;
  • Provide alternatives to animal proteins;
  • Reduce food waste generation.

Brussels Environment will extend the programme with a second way of labelling to be launched in autumn 2018.
