Current mattresses represent around 6,500 tonnes per year of bulky waste collected in recyparks for incineration, while 90% of their components could be recycled or even reused. That’s the reason why the ACR+ member Wallonia is working on a project of progressive obligation to take back mattresses for recycling.

The draft decree aims to facilitate the collection of mattresses in order to create a recycling channel and reduce illegal deposits of this particularly bulky waste.
