ACR+ member Madrid has now implemented the collection of organic waste in all of its districts, with the Centro district being the last to join.

Since 2017 when the organic collection was implemented in 17 pioneering areas of the city and until July 2020, 253,725 tonnes of organic waste have been collected. Currently, recyclable waste already represents 40% of the total collected and transported and the trend is increasing, from 14% in 2016. From January to July of this year, the average share of the organic waste collected in relation to the non-recyclable waste is 26%.
