The Department of Rural Development and Environment, involving ACR+ member NILSA, has started the distribution of the Waste Fund. It will also foresee in future calls for grants the presentation of multi-year projects to facilitate the execution of higher-budget investments, as demanded by local entities.

The EUR 3.5 million that make up the Waste Fund come from the proceeds from the tax on landfill disposal and waste incineration, and the amount of penalties for infractions of waste regulations. According to the Regional Waste Law, the fund will be distributed according to the prioritization criteria of the upper echelons of the waste hierarchy, the fulfillment of the objectives, the environmental urgency and proportionally to the economic contribution of each waste stream.
