One year has passed since one of the most ambitious projects of the of ACR+ member COPIDEC started in Verviers (Belgium), in which 55,000 inhabitants are using containers equipped with a chip for the collection of biowaste.

Despite the health crisis and its consequences, the objectives were generally achieved. The production of residual household waste has fallen sharply while the selective collection of recyclable waste has increased significantly. The prevention efforts and the zero-waste implemented by Verviers' households have made it possible to disappear some of the waste previously produced. Moreover, the number of illegal dumping sites have decreased.
