The switch to a circular building economy in Flanders is necessary and not only to meet the challenges of climate change. It also needs to use raw materials more efficiently and reduce the impact on the environment. The new draft policy programme “Towards circular construction” by ACR+ member OVAM gives shape to these circular ambitions for the Flemish building sector for the period 2022 to 2030.

The objectives for circular building in the new policy programme therefore contribute to the social challenges linked to the use of materials and resources. The main focus is on the circular management of materials in existing buildings and on the circular choices in the design and (re)construction of new or renovated buildings.
