Registrations for the five workshops of the conference “On the path to zero waste cities: the case of organic waste” are now open! By joining one of these workshops on 19 November 2018, participants will have the opportunity to discover a concrete experience from other European countries. In particular, ACR+ member LIPOR will present its food waste prevention strategy: a strategy that puts on the same table urban farming, healthy eating and sustainable food consumption to effectively reduce the food waste produced in the Porto region. The four other workshops will introduce FoodWIN and its programme to support cities becoming zero food waste, explain how Sardinia managed to reach in a few years an impressive 80% separate collection rate, present the “Everyone Fed” movement aiming to reduce food waste in Macedonia, and give details on the comprehensive approach related to food waste taken for the Expo Milano 2015.

The conference “On the path to zero waste cities: the case of organic waste” is co-organised by ACR+, its member Brussels Environment and Zero Waste Europe and will take place in Brussels on 19 November 2018 in the framework of the European Week for Waste Reduction. Aiming to help cities and regions in their transition to zero waste, focusing especially on organic waste, it will also include two panel debates; one presenting pioneering players fostering action for food waste prevention and management from households and the other food waste prevention and bio-waste management best practices in collective catering, hospitals, schools and retail.

Registrations for the whole event and for the individual workshops are currently open online.
