On 12-14 March 2019, ACR + participated in the last mission of the SWIM-H2020 SM project. Held in Tunis, the event consisted of a train-the-trainer workshop on sustainable public procurement (SPP). This mission was a logical follow-up to Tunisia’s National Action Plan for Sustainable Public Procurement, which was developed in 2011-2012 with support from UNEP and is currently being revised. This plan should constitute a reference document that governs the efforts of public purchasers (state, local authorities, public institutions, public companies), as well as those of economic operators.

At the workshop, some 40 participants from different ministries in Tunisia learned about and exchanged experiences on SPP, particularly SPP in the construction sector. For ACR+, the gathering was an opportunity to present the European strategy and legislation in this area and many exemplary cases, including those of its members.

The Ministry of the Environment and the International Center for Environmental Technologies (CITET) supported this mission, which allowed ACR + to strengthen ties with local institutions and discuss future collaborations.

On a side note, this is a reminder that the closing conference of SWIM-H2020 SM will be held on 8 and 9 April 2019 in Brussels. More information will soon follow.
