3.435 tonnes of organic waste (13.5 kg per inhabitants) has been collected by ACR+ Member Madrid Municipality since the start of the service of organic waste collection, in November 2017 and until January 2018.From this, 2.964 tonnes were collected in the 17 pilot areas of 10 districts of the city and 471 tonnes from the big waste generators (such as hotels, big companies and Mercamadrid) taking part in the programme. Between November and January the quantity collected has doubled (884 tonnes in November and 1.377 tonnes in January), which shows that there is an increasing involved of citizens.

For the collection of organic waste, 5,618 containers have been installed, to be used by 255,000 inhabitants. In addition, an information campaign has been carried out visiting already over 101,853 households and distributing 57,568 kits. It will continue until May 2018.

The possibility to extend this service to the population of 11 districts before the end of the year is currently under study.
