The Board of Directors of ACR+ member EMULSA approved the modification of the Local Ordinance on the Non-taxable Public Provision of Services for the Collection, Treatment and Disposal of Waste in Gijón, in order to improve its services. In 2022 the waste tax will be EUR 72.6 per household/year, compared to the current EUR 69, an increase of EUR 0.30 per household per month.
It will allow EMULSA to improve the waste management service, such as the extension of the current free door-to-door collection service for commercial cardboard; the extension of the organic waste collection service in the peri-urban area; the extension of the separate collection service for pruning and mowing plant waste in the peri-urban area; or the increase in awareness campaigns on organic collection, waste prevention and recycling, and circular economy.
