The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) is organising an event  in preparation for the 2020 edition, taking place between 21 and 29 November. This year, the awareness-raising campaign puts a spotlight on the topic of  “invisible waste“, namely that waste produced during the manufacturing of products that the consumer does not see.

The new EU Circular Economy Action Plan states that waste prevention, as part of a broader range of circular economy actions, plays a clear role in reducing the impact of resource extraction and use and contributes to restore biodiversity and natural capital. The EU Biodiversity Strategy highlights how natural ecosystems are put under pressure by pollution, chemical pesticides, pharmaceuticals, hazardous chemicals, urban and industrial wastewater, and other waste including litter and plastics.

Raising awareness and taking action on waste reduction has therefore a huge impact. This is what the EWWR, joining forces with public authorities all around Europe, has been doing since 2009.

Register here and join us online on 20 October at 15:30 CET to discover all the novelties of this years’ campaign and engage in a conversation with our guest speakers.

This event is organised in cooperation with the European Committee of the Regions and takes place in the framework of the EU Green Week, which addresses this year the theme of nature and biodiversity.
