The URBAN-WASTE project – Urban strategies for Waste Management in Tourist Cities – will endeavour to support policy makers in answering to the challenges of booming tourism in European cities, including high levels of unsustainable resource consumption and waste production.

Project co-funded by the European Commission, under the Horizon 2020 programme, 2016 - 2019

The Sicilian city of Syracuse, as one of the URBAN-WASTE pilot cities, hosted the 9th Mutual Learning event on "Marketing Measures and Communicating Good Practices to Different Target Groups" and the accompaining Municipality Forum which gathered not only URBAN-WASTE pilots but also other exemplary cities as well as local attention.

The three piece webinar series on gender mainstreaming in waste management ended in May 2018 providing the project consortium and external audience with a reflection on what role gender plays in communication activities, budgeting and reporting.
