UrbanWaste

The URBAN-WASTE project – Urban strategies for Waste Management in Tourist Cities – will endeavour to support policy makers in answering to the challenges of booming tourism in European cities, including high levels of unsustainable resource consumption and waste production.

Project co-funded by the European Commission, under the Horizon 2020 programme, 2016 - 2019

Highlights

Although the highlight of URBAN-WASTE this spring will be the final conference “Waste Management in Tourism. Does it even matter?” in Brussels, an equally important meeting was hosted by the Dubrovnik – Neretva County in Croatia on 13 and 14 March 2019.

Indeed, for the 10th and last time over the course of the project, the 11 pilot cities and regions representatives met for a Mutual Learning event. Participants shared the eco-innovative measures and strategies they have implemented in recent years. The event was essential for assessing the impact that the URBAN-WASTE project has had in the 11 pilot cities and regions, as the project partners had the chance to look at monitoring results and figures and other success indicators.
