ACR+ member The Hague is launching a trial with donation racks in the city center, attached to 32 waste bins. These racks allow residents to leave their returnable cans and bottles for those collecting deposits. People searching for returnable items can easily take the cans and bottles without having to search through waste bins, preventing litter and reducing the likelihood of damaged bins.

The trial period for the donation racks is four months, during which the municipality will monitor the racks weekly. Waste educators will also engage with residents to gather feedback on their opinions, understanding of the racks' purpose, and whether they use them. After the trial, the municipality will assess whether to continue with the donation racks and consider expanding their placement to other locations in the city.
