ACR+ appoints a new Secretary General

The Association for Cities and Regions for Recycling and Sustainable Resource Management (ACR+) appoints a new Secretary General

Françoise Bonnet, a European law specialist and waste expert, has been appointed the new Secretary General by ACR+ Executive Committee

Ms. Bonnet will take up her new position with ACR+ on 2 January 2013. In the meantime, Jean-Jacques Dohogne, Senior Project Manager at ACR+, will act as Secretary General to ensure a smooth transition.

Françoise Bonnet, 47, has a degree in law from Liège University completed by a post-graduate diploma in advanced European Studies (College of Europe, Bruges) and a masters in environmental law (Faculties Saint-Louis, Brussels). She is Belgian and speaks several languages (FR, EN, IT, ES, NL).

After nearly 15 years of experience in consulting and law in Belgium and abroad, in 2008 Ms. Bonnet joined Brussels Environment, the regional environment agency in charge of the Brussels waste management planning and policy, where she is currently Head of the Waste Department.

This appointment puts an end to the recruitment process carried out by ACR+ to substitute Olivier De Clercq, current Secretary General, moving on to the Waste Management Unit, DG Environment, European Commission in mid-October 2012.

Mr. De Clercq is leaving the organisation after more than 7 years of fruitful cooperation. The Board of Directors, as well as ACR+ staff would like to express their gratitude and appreciation of Mr. De Clercq’s committed work and significant achievements. They also wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
