ACR+ participated in the conference “Fostering the transition towards a circular economy in Europe”


On 27 February 2018, ACR+ participated in the conference on “Fostering the transition towards a circular economy in Europe: turning waste into a resource” organised by Public Policy Exchange in Brussels, Belgium.

The symposium gathered industry experts, policy makers, academics and other key stakeholders to review the latest European regulatory policy developments on the Circular Economy Package and discuss strategies aimed at promoting a more sustainable economy. The event in particular included a presentation from the European Commission about the EU legislative framework on circular economy.  Additionally, ACR+ member Zero Waste Scotland presented the Scottish strategy and instruments for circular economy. Mentioning that a Circular Economy Strategy for Scotland adopted in 2016 is linked to Scotland’s economy strategy and presents a sectorial approach, focusing on bio economy, energy infrastructure, remanufacturing and food waste.

ACR+ intervention focused on the strategic use of public procurement to foster circular economy and presented the tools developed in the frameworks of PPI4Waste and LIFE future projects.
