On 4 October 2018, ACR+ hosted an EPR Club lunch debate to explore the role of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in implementing the requirement of separate collection of textiles in the new EU waste legislation.

An introductory presentation gave an overview of the current state of used textile collection in Europe. Afterwards, several invited speakers provided their perspectives on the issue – the executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, the textile industry (represented by H&M and EURATEX – the European Apparel and Textile Confederation), the only EPR scheme for textiles in Europe (the French organisation EcoTLC) and the European reuse sector (represented by the NGO Rreuse). Lastly, the European Commission elaborated on the new legal provision concerning textiles before all participants joined the open debate. The discussions addressed in particular the role and responsibilities of different actors, as well as the system set-up and necessary infrastructure.

All the presentations are available online for ACR+ and EPR Club members.
